The second alarm rings at 7 a.m. My hands reached out trying to find my h/p with eyes closed. Errrgghh... 7 o'clock already! Still got time... put alarm on snooze. Pull the blanket and snuggled more comfortably. After 10 minutes, the alarm sounded again. Oh why does time flies so fast on morning like this. Or more accurately, on every morning when you wish for another 10 minutes of sleep. My hands reached out again and put out alarm hoping it is the snooze button. Continue sleeping...
Subconsciously feels this time my 10 minutes is a bit longer. Open one eye to look at the wall clock. Yikes! It's already 8.10 a.m. I must have pressed the wrong button earlier. But you know what, since I'm already late, I might as well lie down a bit longer. 5 minute more. Open eyes to look at the clock. Add another 10 minutes lah. Open eyes again to look at the wall clock. Why not just add another 5 minutes then. Open eyes and saw its 1 minute to 8.30. Sit down with blanket around my shoulders. OK! OK! 8.30 already. Must go and take my bath.
Do my bathroom rituals leisurely. Go out and see 20 minutes has passed. My official office hour is at 9.00 a.m. Never mind lah. A little late doesn't matter. I'll make up for it. Pick out clothes and tudung to wear. Iron quickly if necessary. Dressed up, put some powder and lipstick. Rushed to pack my laptop, fill in some water in my recycled water bottle, check to see whether I need to throw rubbish today. Nope! No rubbish today. Pick up my other set of eyes, hand phone, close the window, switch off fan, take handbag and laptop bag, wear shoes and go out at 9.15. I always tell myself it is better to be late as there'll be no jam by now. Go down the stairs and start my car. Reached office at 9.45. Reached the area earlier actually but finding a place to park took some time.
On peak hours, it would take longer to reach office. I know. I've tried. But still that is not a good excuse. I definitely can't be the employee of the month. Before anyone go tsk! tsk! tsk! Coming in late is the privilege I get as a senior staff who is used to working at home (telecommuting). When my boss bought the office, he said I can work at home once in a while if there's no meeting, discussion or software testing at the office. We have always been quite flexible with time. I extended that to coming in a little late... most of the time hehehe...
That privilege aside, it really is a chore getting up every morning now. High time for me to find a new job and try something new. Something that'll make me excited to go to work like I used to a long time ago. I already got a job offer. But there are some technicalities that have to be sorted out before I can hand in my resignation notice. Sigh! The days seem to pass by very slowly until I can hear the good news, "Cik Sue, you can come and take your offer letter now". It's always like that when you're waiting for something isn't it? Every minute feels like hours.

Times like those I am truly grateful that I am a stay-at-home-mom and don't need to rush out to the office hehe. But other times I do miss the rat race and all that adrenaline rush of having to get projects done and not to mention missing the $$ (gaji)...
