We get into the ferry and tried to find the best seat. I had no idea how long it will take to get to Pangkor from Lumut. I went to Pangkor ages ago, it was at night and I don’t remember much except there’re two stops and my friends laughed at me when I tried to get off on the first stop. The locals get off on the first stop and the tourist on the second.
I sat by the window hoping to get some nice views. After a few minutes, I think the seat at the opposite window is better since I was facing the sun. Everything was so bright and hazy. A friend said the grass is always greener at the other side which I can take literally since I can see nice greeneries at the opposite window hehehe…
Anyway, we begin the journey ‘entertained’ with deafening techno music. Can you imagine going to Hawaii and they played techno music to greet you? Why can’t they find some nice local music to introduce everyone, local and foreign tourist, to our culture? I remembered enjoying Dondang Sayang during boat ride at Putrajaya Lake. It is not the kind of music I listened to every day but I really enjoyed it that time because it sets the mood.
I wish the ferry operators would come to their senses and get rid of the deafening techno music and find something more local and soothing to the ears. My friend take out her F1 ear plugs and use it to block out the noise.
There is only one stop now and the ride is shorter. Thank God! Many of us are hesitant to get off at first but after seeing almost everyone getting off, we just follow suit. There’s no instruction whatsoever. If only there is some announcement welcoming us to the island and wishing we had a nice time on the short ferry ride. The service sure could be improved. On the way back, I went out to the deck and my ear was spared from techno torture.
