We always sprout these two statements when we talk sometimes. So how can these two statements be true? A friend raises this issue in one of my egroup recently. So what do you think? Do people change? Or don't they?
My two cents worth on the issue is this; individuals changed but human don't. Since the beginning of time until Doomsday, there will be murder, greed, jealousy, deceit and all things evil, existing side by side with the good. There will be good individuals and the scum on earth.
Individuals can change, from good to bad and vice versa. And they change for themselves, not for other people. So don’t ever hope someone will change for you. It won’t last if it did not benefit the individuals in any way. If you're married to someone, don't expect them to do or not to do this or that for you. Then you'll end up in disappointment.
So if a husband decided they want to marry another, or keeps a mistress or more, do they change or don’t they? You can look at both perspectives.
1) People never change - a husband is a man and it is men's behavior to want women and in most cases as many as they can have.
2) People do change – you said I’m the only one for you. How can you do this to me? Where are all your promises? The correct answer; go back to 1).
