Kerastangan

Setelah lama memendam keinginan, berjaya ke Nilai 3 few weeks ago mencari kain untuk dijadikan bahan ujikaji. It was a very hot afternoon and I don't plan to spend too much time there. So the moment I saw cheap fabric with nice design,  I took it. I bought some cheap cotton fabric that cost RM4/meter, RM5/meter and RM13/meter for a curtain fabric. I also bought few things like zippers, batting and interfacing at a shop in Nilai.

First try... a zippered pouch with front pocket that uses velcro.

The outcome of my first attempt was not bad. Of course I could do better. Have to take a break for a while because I have training and few days rest. Nak buat kerastangan mesti betul2 relax and in the mood.

Second attempt with the cheap cotton. 

 I love the green color and the pattern. I use green polka dot material for the lining. Because the fabric is very thin, I use interfacing on both internal and external fabric.

Third attempt with curtain fabric

I use bias tape on the pocket. This tote has single external pocket and two internal pocket. Must make external pocket becomes two because it is not very secure right now. Not very satisfied with the outcome. I use French seam because there is no serging on the fabric but it makes the fabric became too thick at some area.

Lesson learnt:
- Buy medium weight fabric.
- 1 meter fabric is normally enough since I like variety.
- Stock on plain cotton fabric for lining.

Few days break due to training and will see what mood and sewing ideas struck me after that.
