Misi Banjir 1

7-10 Jan 2015

Banjir di Kelantan was really beyond words. Nobody thought the scale would be so big. I was eager to go and help wherever I could. MIL thought of his son, DIL and grandchildren. I sort of promise MIL I'll bring her to Kelantan when BIL called MIL and tell how he's down with dengue fever but nothing much can be done in the flooded hospital. Luckily their house wasn't affected but food and water supply was a problem and there's no electricity. So after the water subsided, off we go with a lot of supplies in the car. Me, MIL, a nephew (who happens to be in KL when KB flooded and missed it all - also a journey to send him back) and a niece. 8-hours of uneventful drive alhamdulillah. The devastation can be seen the minute we entered the Kuala Krai area.

Who would have thought the water would flow over the bridge...
Surreal - going through a once submerged rubber estate...
Checking out the things we brought
My school alumni also did a drive to bring a lorry full of goods hopefully to give some relief to those in need. We went to KB on Wednesday and return on Saturday. The lorry reached Gua Musang on Saturday morning. So I couldn't join them as I can't rush MIL to leave so early so as to reach Gua Musang around 7-8 am. It was jammed all the way to Kuala Krai area anyway. We reached Gua Musang only around 3 pm. However, when I was in KB I managed to join a 4x4 group sending supplies around Tanah Merah area. I wish I could help more. But it really took a lot of energy and commitment to continue be there and help the flood victims. My first commitment is here.... at home.
