Snake in a Dream

Dream interpretation has been around from a very very long time ago. There's even a story in the Qur'an about Prophet Yusuf (Joseph) a.s. interpreting the king's dream when he's in the prison (Refer Surah Yusuf verse 43-49).

I'm not sure about other culture, but in the Malay society, I've learned from the elders that if an unmarried lady dreamt of being coiled or bitten by a snake, she will be getting married soon. If they just saw the snake, or the snake just look at them without doing anything, it means someone is interested. I wonder how a snake which is feared by most people, and normally has a negative connotation like, 'as slippery as a snake', can be interpreted as a suitor or a husband.

Another interpretation of snake in a dream from the dream dictionary in HyperDictionary.com is below.

Seeing a snake or be bitten by one in your dream means hidden fears and worries that are threatening you. Your dream may be alerting you to something in your waking life that you are not aware of or that has not yet surfaced. The snake may also be seen as phallic and thus symbolize dangerous and forbidden sexuality. The snake may also refer to a person around you who is callous, ruthless, and can't be trusted. As a positive symbol, snakes represent transformation, knowledge and wisdom. It is indicative of self-renewal and positive changes.

There is also another interpretation here and you can submit your dreams to be interpreted if you want.

Have you been dreaming of snakes lately anyone?
